After dinner while the kids are whining playing, Rudy and I will often sneakily eat a treat. Usually we will sit down on the kitchen floor with our backs against the cupboards and indulge. We don’t mind sharing our sweets with the kids, but we are trying to teach them healthy eating habits
. We also like to share a quiet moment together as we hide from the masses.
Earlier tonight while we were scarfing down some Perfect Chocolate Chip Cookies, we suddenly heard the loud pitter patter of 5 year old footsteps. Keri stopped at the kitchen “door” with an impish grin on her face having caught her parents in the act of pigging out. She cutely asked, “Mommy, why do you have two cookies?”
I replied ever so cleverly, “Because I am twice as big as you. You want one cookie?”
She quickly grabbed one from the container and joined us in our indulging fest while Cory was clueless. From the look on her face you could tell she was in heaven - she loves being considered one of the adults.
While the three of us ate our cookies, Rudy sneakily whispered to me, “I must be two times as big as you.”
I smiled at his coded way of telling me how many cookies he downed until little Keri piped up saying, “You had four cookies Daddy?”
Apparently they are teaching her more than we think in full day Kindergarten.
Now if only the scale in the bathroom would claim I weighed half as much as Rudy …

Very cute. There’s nothing like getting caught with your hand in the cookie jar (so to speak)…!!

I have my “secret stash” of goodies too. If I get caught, I do share. But the goal is not to get caught! ((grin))
