  1. Thanks for the info. Fortunately the Polly Pockets we JUST bought weren’t on the list — but I’m thinking of putting them away for a while anyway until another recall is done. You can never be too careful.

This situation in China is only getting worse, I heard yesterday that one of the men who works for mattel committed suicide. I’ll try to find you the link!

  2. We have some of the magnetic polly pockets that were given to us as a gift and they are on the list. We have already had one magnet fall out on its own. Luckily we realized this was a problem early on and we have kept a close eye on them. I am surprised these magnetic toys are still on the market.

  3. Back again! Obviously this issue matters a lot to me. We had a scare with our daughter swallowing her brother’s Magnetix a few years ago ( I wrote about it here: http://blankenshipkids.blogspot.com/2007/06/mamas-guide-to-living-dangerously.html ) and ir floors me that stores still sell them. Somebody really needs to do something!

  4. It’s amazing. Nearly everyone I know has one of the toys on that list. I’ve been calling people to let them know.

  5. While going through my daughter’s Polly Pocket Toys I also discovered we had a Barbie doll with some visible magnets - the Happy Family Pregnant Midge one. I called Mattel to see if this is also being recalled. They said it wasn’t on the list, but they want it back anyway and will send me a voucher for it.

Bottom line, go through ALL the toys!

  6. This makes me think that my survey and eviction of toys should really extend to other Made in China products since they usually end up in my son’s mouth.

  7. While there are definitely issues with Chinese manufacturing, the real blame for the toy recalls lies with Mattel. Anyone and everyone who actually works in the toy industry knows this.

I’ve written about it here: http://shenzhenundercover.blogspot.com/2007/08/inside-toy-recalls-mattels-sins.html
