I remember my first official concert…1994. Weezer , Archers of Loaf…that all ages club right by the McDonalds by the Space Needle …whoever can tell me the name of that long gone venue wins a prize. It ’s driving me crazy not to remember it…
I went to concerts to see the bands up close, to feel their sweat, to see how they enunciated each and every word. There was nothing I wouldn’t do to stand there. But there was also a price. For those that wanted to be there in the front and experience the music, had the “mosh pit ” to deal with as well. But the adrenaline lasted for hours afterwards, and the memories will last a lifetime.
I love music. It’s a passion I don’t think I will ever outgrow. I love new music but am fiercely loyal to those bands that sucked me in, in the beginning. Some of them are still around.
I love the theatre as well, and in my college years I landed the job of “barista” in the Paramount Theatre, which included working at the Moore Theatre as well. It was a dream job. I remember it with a gleam in my eye. The work did not pay the rent, but it was worth such meager sums to steal into the ballroom during the shows and watch the plays and concerts.
I love this city. I love the energy of Seattle at night. There is so much to do. But I return from an 8 year absence with new appendages, three young children. The city is no longer my playground. The playground has become my playground. But I think it’s time ladies. I’m ready to get back to my city. I’m craving to see what the Seattle Night Lights have to offer. This time I’m going to have a husband to drag along with me, and I think I’ll leave the moshing to the teenagers and bring my binoculars instead. It’s much easier on my head.

Looking forward to your adventures. Do you remember “Buzzy’s on Broadway”? Yeah, I worked there.
I can’t remember the name of that club either though, but some others were The Omni, Schoochies, The Underground . . . aaah, the memories of the teen dance clubs.

Oh, and I have to share one of the best concert experiences that I know you will understand — Soundgarden, The Violent Femmes and The Pixies at Bumpershoot. I think it was 1989.
Not as good as the first time I saw The Dave Matthews Band in a little bar in Vancouver, BC in ‘92, but almost.

OK, am I totally dating myself when I say that my first concert was Corey Hart (”I wear my sunglasses at night”)…or wait, change that. I think before that came Chicago 17. Yes. “You’re the meaning in my life, you’re the inspiration.” Um. Say, 8th grade? Mid-80s?
Weezer for me is, like, still cutting edge music. Now that tells you something. Sheesh.

My first concert was Brian Adams, Waking up the Neighbors tour. This column will be awesome because I have so much room to learn in the area of coolness.

My first concert was Donny & Marie Osmond, if you can believe it. My uncle was a music bigwig and we got to go to the afterparty and meet them first-hand. I was just a little girl but I remember being totally in awe of Marie because she kept changing her clothes throughout the concert!

My first concert was New Kids on the Block. I didn’t like that (by that time), but I realized the awesomeness the is The Live Show and have since been to bazillions of shows.
My favorite local show? The first time I saw the Old 97’s live. Or better yet, the time they invited me to their live in-studio at KEXP.
This column is going to ROCK!
(Wanna go with me to see Ben Lee at Neumo’s in a couple of weeks?)

I think the name of that club was either Skoochies or Oz. Hung out at both. My first concert was Bruce Springsteen in the Tacoma Dome and I dressed up like a old school Madonna Wanna-be.

What a coincidence…this was my first concert too! I was 13 years old, and the venue is…..drum roll please…The DV8! I spent the entire night with big tuff bro pushing off any and everyone that got near me! It was amazing…I still remember reaching out and touching Matt’s converse shoe and screaming!!! AMAZING night!
